On-Line Registration Quick Reference Guide

FALL 2010 REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Registration for the Fall 2010 season is now open. To register click on the REGISTER ON-LINE icon. Payment can be made on-line with a credit card (preferred method) or a check can be mailed to the registrar after you register on-line. If you pay by check your child will not be placed on a team until payment is received so send in payment ASAP after you register so you don't forget. Better yet, pay by credit card!

Cost per child for the 1st two children in a family is $55 for the in-town program U6 – U8 (grades K-2) and $75 for the travel program U10-U14 (grades 3 - 8). Additional children receive a $55 discount.

The registration deadline for the Fall 2010 soccer season is midnight June 13, 2010. Registrations received after this date will require a $25 late fee in addition to the registration fee (in-town late fee is $15). Late registrants participating in the Travel Program (U10-U14) cannot be guaranteed placement on a team. This is due to league placement deadlines which require us to form teams by the end of June! Help us by registering early and save the $25 late fee!!! In the past we have had to turn away players due to late registration.

New players must supply a copy of a birth certificate to the registrar. Please mail it with a copy of your registration confirmation to the registrar.

Please mail all checks by mail and birth certificates to:

       GSC Registrar

       28 Stockwell Farm Road

       North Grafton, MA 01536

UNIFORMS & PRODUCTS:   ALL players will need a club uniform. Players who already have a uniform from previous seasons can use the same uniform. All other players will need a club uniform which can be ordered/paid for on-line with registration. Please SPECIFY UNIFORM SIZE when ordering to help us manage our inventory.

Players and coaches can also order an Official Club Jacket on-line (Please specify size). This is NOT required but is provided as a service to you.

All uniforms and products will be available for pick up at Merchandise Night to be held in August (time and date to be announced).

COACHING:  We are thankful to have a dedicated group of parents that volunteer to coach our teams. We offer training and guidance to help our coaches be successful. ALL COACHES WILL NEED TO REGISTER for the FALL 2010 Season! If you are a returning coach or a new coach you will need to register on-line at www.gscsoccer.org. The registration process is the same as registering a player except that you will choose the coach registration option when registering. New coaches (NOT returning coaches) will also need to complete an on-line CORI check (links provided on our website and in the registration receipt) which takes about 5 minutes to complete. Coaching assignments are made first based on experience and then by order of registration so please register early.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:  Scholarships are available for those who cannot afford the registration or uniform fees. Our goal is to have kids play soccer regardless of financial ability to do so. To request a scholarship please contact the registrar at deddy@tstar.com or any other board member.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND KEY DATES: The Fall 2010 registration deadline is June 13th. This may seem early to you, but the planning needs, for both in-town and Travel leagues that we participate in, drive these dates. Leagues ask for a commitment for the number of teams from each town as early as mid-June. Thus, we need our players registered by the deadline to ensure we enter enough teams for everyone to play. Once the number of teams is set, there is little flexibility to accept additional players. It has the policy of the GSC that players who register after the deadline are NOT guaranteed a place on a team. Please help us avoid disappointing kids by registering by the deadline.

Key Fall  2010 Dates:

GSC Team Selection and Player Placement Policy
________________________________________

In-Town Program (U6 - U8)
Team selection will support the overall goals of the U-6 and U8 programs. Refer to the GSC website (www.graftonsoccer.org) for additional information. Teams will be formed based on coaches' evaluations, parent's requests (see Player Placement below) and equal ratio of 6 and 7 year olds (U-8). A collaborative process involving the age group coordinator and all the coaches will be used to create balanced teams. Coordinators will determine the number of teams based upon total enrollment. It is the GSC's intent to maintain an open registration policy to introduce the game to all that are interested. Evaluations are required from each coach to help balance teams for the next session.

Travel Program (U10-U18)
Team selection will support the overall goals of the U10-U14 programs. Teams will be formed based on coach evaluations. A collaborative process involving the age group coordinator and all the coaches will be used to create the teams. Coordinators will determine the number of teams based on total enrollment. Coordinators decide the number of teams to place and in which divisions to place the teams based on the evaluated skill level of the available pool of players. Since age groups usually span two years, Coordinators will attempt to place no fewer than four players of the same age on any team. Evaluations are required by each coach to help formulate teams for the next session.

Player Placement

Parental requests will be considered, but they may not always be acted upon. It is the intent of the GSC to offer a wide range of coaches to all of our players. Thus, it is our objective to move children about so they can get a different perspective on the game. Requests for certain coaches and keeping teams together will not be honored. The GSC relies on coaching evaluations to assist in the proper team placement. It is the GSC policy that the entire group of coaches in an age-group work together to normalize the ratings. This is a collaborative process in which all coaches and the age-group coordinator get together and discuss what is in the best interest of all the children. If you feel your child has been misplaced, please discuss it with your coach or age group coordinator

Refunds must be requested from the Registrar prior to team formation in January. After this deadline we will only provide refunds in case of injury. The MYSA insurance fee of $11 will be deducted, but the remainder of the registration fee will be returned by mail.

Once the registration deadline has passed all late registrants will be placed on a waiting list for his/her age-group. Each age-group coordinator will work with the Registrar to manage the waiting list for their age-group. We will work to place as many wait-listed children as possible, although players who register late cannot be guaranteed placement on a GSC team. Our mission is to ensure a great soccer experience for ALL the children in the program, so we have placed limits on the number of players per team (age-group dependent). Once these limits have been reached, no additional players can be accepted.
